The Victorian Labor Government has announced that it will deliver the biggest hospital project in Australia’s history, with massive upgrades to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital across two campuses at Parkville and Arden in Melbourne.  The $5 – $6 billion upgrade and expansion will deliver a total of more than 1,800 beds and treatment spaces.

Destravis is proud of the contribution we made to the development of this exciting health project.

As clinical service planner, Destravis developed a system strategy / Clinical Service Plan for RMH and RWH to transform and grow services across both campuses to meet future demand. This included driving innovation in service delivery, introducing new models of care and developing future-focussed service planning scenarios for projecting points of care across both facilities, both campuses and beyond the hospitals.

Destravis developed the ‘digital care and navigation centre’ concept in conjunction with health service leaders.

“[The digital care and navigation centre] embraces the technology that has revolutionised healthcare and giving Victorians the opportunity to access telehealth for convenience and efficiency.  It will provide a way for the RMH and the Women’s to support regional, rural and smaller metropolitan services to care for patients locally through virtual care and specialist clinician-to-clinician consultation, streamlining patient flow and improving access to specialist services across Victoria”.

The Destravis health planning team then converted these points of care to schedules of accommodation, functional design briefs and relationship diagrams to inform the master plan and business case for the project by the broader project team, including Hassell, MCR and EY.

Destravis was engaged due to alignment with project objectives and a push for innovation and change leadership; introducing new models of care and increased technology integration to guide the planning for the future.

We look forward to the project being realised for the patients, staff and communities of Victoria.
