Jacaranda Place began with an Investment Brief by Destravis in 2016 and opened to patients in 2021. Destravis remained on the project from inception to completion and is very proud of the facility and care environment that has been created for adolescent consumers in Queensland seeking mental health services and rehabilitation.
Jacaranda Place was a direct Government commitment in response to a Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the closure of the Barrett Adolescent Centre; the previous bed-based treatment centre. The new facility provides extended treatment and rehabilitation in a residential setting for young people with complex mental health issues.
The 3,000sqm facility has 12-inpatient beds, an integrated vocational / educational day program sufficient for 10 places; shared dining rooms; multi-functional meeting / training / education rooms; individual offices and sufficient shared working spaces; staff room, write up space and associated amenities; centralised administration for child and youth mental health services; and dedicated back of house services including laundry and kitchen.
The project was delivered on time, on budget and to much acclaim from consumers and the project team.
