Destravis was engaged by MSHHS to conduct master plans across their major health facilities in the HHS, including Logan Hospital. This presented a unique opportunity to consider the requirements for the HHS as a whole and to consider the most efficient and effective options for investment in capital infrastructure on each of these campuses to ensure quality health service delivery throughout the HHS.
The Logan Campus was originally commissioned in 1990 as a 48 bed community hospital. It has continued to grow in line with the surrounding population to its existing 448 bed capacity. Service demands continue to exceed the existing facility capacity and demand is projected to continue to grow rapidly.
The campus is at capacity, landlocked by major infrastructure and suffers from inadequate parking provisions. With seemingly limited expansion opportunities, Destravis investigated a number of scenarios for expanded service provision whilst ensuring efficient use of capital funding. The Master Plan addresses the significant pressure on acute beds, emergency treatment and outpatient services with short, medium and long-term expansion and redevelopment solutions which enable staged growth to meet service demand and funding availability.
The master plan for Logan Hospital has resulted in:
