Destravis was engaged by MSHHS to conduct master plans across their major health facilities in the HHS, including Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII). This presented a unique opportunity to consider the requirements for the HHS as a whole and to consider the most efficient and effective options for investment in capital infrastructure on each of these campuses to ensure quality health service delivery throughout the HHS.
QEII is a medium-sized adult general facility with 216 beds providing a range of inpatient, outpatient and support services to residents of Brisbane's south and west. The main clinical ward block of the hospital was built in 1980s and suffers inefficiencies due to age.
The HHS-wide approach to the master plan resulted in QEII being planned for expansion as a large General Hospital, accommodating a vast increase in service demand and greater overflow of patients from the PAH as they focus on quaternary services.
