Queensland Health

The SCUH is a 738-bed public tertiary teaching hospital using a Public Private Partnership (PPP) delivery model. The SCUH PPP forms part of the wider SCUH Project, comprising the development of a 20 hectare integrated health campus on a green-field site at Kawana.

Integrated into the SCUH is the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI).

The SCHI incorporates public and private health facilities, education and training facilities, place making and community planning which integrates with the existing Kawana Town Centre.

The SCHI will contain the majority of the teaching, learning and research spaces of the SCUH and will be the focus of education delivery and research by the key stakeholders that include The University of Queensland (UQ), The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), The Sunshine Coast TAFE (SC TAFE) and the Queensland Health Clinical Skills Development Service (QH CSDS).

John Holm developed the services models for workspace, research and education to support collaboration between the key stakeholder organisations. He continued to work as an advisor to Queensland Health to review the Exemplar Health planning against the Functional Design Brief and provide suggestions or recommendations to ensure the original vision and functionality was maintained.
